Some of y’all won’t believe me, but parts of my job aren’t fun. It’s like any other occupation. You have things that you have to do that you don’t like. It’s just part of it.
They do call it work for a reason.
But most of my job is pretty cool. I get to work with dogs and test dog gear and talk to folks about dog gear and think about dogs and dog gear.
I do dig it.
The other cool part of our job is the customers. Sure we have some interactions that go sideways but the majority of them are shopping for their dogs or we are helping them solve a dog issue.
It’s not a bad gig.
We get a lot of feedback. The majority of it is positive. Most of it comes online or via email.
But every once in a while, we get one that’s cooler than the rest. This one stands out.
John wrote me a letter about how much he appreciates the educational videos we have on some of the gear we sell. It’s rare to have someone take the time to put pen to actual paper, put a stamp on it and mail you a letter. Especially when it’s to tell you that he appreciates your work. That’s good stuff.
Shooting our video content might be my favorite part of the job.
The coolest part of John’s letter is that he went out of his way to tell me that he’s old fashioned (he wrote a letter) and old (80) while telling me that he likes my video content on the internet.
The video content that helped him pair up his satellite Global Positioning System so he can track his dogs in real time while hunting…
and he thinks he’s old…
This man has a blessed life. I want to be chasing bird dogs at 80.
