If you have never had a dog with drive or a work ethic, you might just not understand what we are doing with our animals. If all you have ever had was a biscuit eating couch potato (no judgement, I’m just sayin) you might be a bit out of your depth when comparing a working dog to a companion pet.
Not all dogs are the same. They can not be trained the same.
This seems to be a hard concept for some people to understand.
Perhaps a few human comparisons might help.
Many people golf.
Comparing what the general public does on the weekends at the local country club to a professional golfer would be similar to comparing a competition dog to a pet. They both enjoy their time in the outdoors but it’s a different experience.
Another example would be comparing me and my workouts at the local wellness center to the workouts of a professional athlete.
It’s not the same. I don’t put in the same effort and I don’t have the dedication, drive or talent.
It’s not a fair comparison.
If you don’t understand something, ask about it. Learn a bit before you comment.
Or perhaps just let it be.
